Elderly people prefers be independent as long as possible. Most of the older people have difficulty in giving up the independence that they enjoy in their youth. But when your elder parent is no longer capable of living safely on their own it is important to provide them a companion that could attend their needs.

In most ideal situation an elder parents should live with their children, but there are instances that living with the children or any relative is not possible. In this case the second best option is to provide elderly with live-in caregiver. Your elderly family member gets adequate aid and assistance in a familiar surrounding hence they feel comfortable and secure.

Here are the things you need to consider in hiring a Live-In Caregiver:

  1. Talk your family doctor about getting live-in help, or consult a public health nurse. These professionals can help t you to get in touch with trustworthy home-care services.
  2. If your elder parents have particular health conditions like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson or diabetes, talk to people from organization that supports people this with diseases. They may be able to recommend caregivers who specialize in helping people with these conditions.
  3. Find out what credentials the caregiver has. Does she have CPR and first aid training, or any other health-care training and credentials?
  4. Ask and check references carefully before you hire the live-in caregiver to provide home care for your elder parent. Get a background and criminal record check if possible.
  5. Spell out the tasks that need to be carried-out by the caregiver, and make sure that she is willing and able to do them. And make sure that the contract includes a precise job description that both parties agreed with.

The family is one of the most important providers for the elderly. In fact, the majority of caregivers for the elderly are often members of their own family, most often a daughter or a granddaughter. Home health care is commonly referred to as domiciliary care.

Home health care or supportive care can be provided in the home by healthcare professionals or by family and friends or provided by licensed personnel. It is often used as a means to prevent hospitalization for frail, elderly outpatients or to shorten a hospital stay.

The golden years can bring about uncertainty about daily activities that were once taken for granted. Taking care of elderly at home where they can still be a part of family daily activities can be of many advantages.

Elderly care emphasizes on the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity.

PHCSI in Action: Dedicated Caregivers

This issue honors two of the most dedicated caregivers of PHCSI whose commitment and work ethics are worthy of emulation.Grace Abordo applied with PHCSI  in March of 2007  and  was  given  an  assignment  after  a couple of months after having been screened thoroughly  by  the  company  under its  hiring criteria.  Grace  was  regarded  highly  in  her previous assignments and co-worker based on the positive feedbacks garnered. Her personal
life did not interfere with her work even if at times  she was beset with  family obligations.   She was always ready to accept an assignment and went beyond  the call of duty  to do her  job.

Cathy Lin is also one of the most dependable caregivers of PHCSI and is always willing to do her  job even on an emergency situation. She could be called upon “anytime of  the day or night  if  PHCSI  needs  her  to  go  to  an
assignment and was always  there on  time”.

Professional Health Care Services,  Inc. in the  last  quarter  participated  in  various activities in its desire to chronicle the kind of professional care that it offers to its clients an example of which is a Health Fair in the
